Contessa is gorgeous. Sharp, angular, and very dairy. She has beautiful brisket extension, excellent body capacity, and a wide rump (40 in rump width at this week's appraisal session!) She's a beautiful balance of dairyness and strength. We wish she had a little more udder capacity, but it's a good-looking little udder.

The animals in her immediate pedigree are all beautiful, high-appraising animals, and she's even the niece of our ELITE Oak Apple Mikado +*B who just appraised VEE 90 as an 8 year old. Contessa makes beautiful kids and is generous with her doe kids- out of 3 freshenings she's only given us one buck to six does. Her kids readily inherit her length of body, angularity, and rump width. (Her retained daughter from last year just scored 37 in rump width as a yearling ff!)

Contessa would never in a million years be available, except that we've retained 3 of her beautiful daughters, and...she has a drinking problem. That's right, Contessa is an unrepentant self-nurser. We are a DHIR herd and we managed her last year by having her wear a fabric dog cone. This completely stopped the self-nursing, but if the cone is removed she goes straight back to her old ways. She already has her milk star, and would make an excellent brood doe or a show doe for someone who wants to buy her a new cone. (Hers has recently met its demise, and rather than buy a new cone, we are taking that as our sign that it's time to move her on!)

Contessa also has wattles.
